Compact System Cameras were designed to offer full DSLR quality from compact sized cameras and the remarkable Samsung NX300 combines two of Samsungs main strengths – fantastic image quality and impressive wifi connectibility.

The Samsung NX300 has  a classic retro look with a full metal body wrapped in leather, but on the inside it has some exceptional 21st century technology. It features a new 20.3 megapixel sensor, new Hybrid Auto Focus (AF) system which uses both phase and contrast detection (making it incredibly fast), a wide ISO range of 100-25,600, 1080p HD movie recording, built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, very useful tilting 3.3-inch AMOLED touch-screen, a remarkable 8.6fps continuous shooting and 1/6000th shutter speed.

You can also choose a slower 5fps rate for 15 JPEGs. There’s also a special Burst mode that records 30 frames per second at 5 megapixel JPEG resolution. You can instantly scroll through the images that you have taken, view thumbnails, view slideshows, delete and protect an image and set the print order. The Edit Image option offers a number of different ways to alter the look of an already-captured photo, including cropping, resizing, rotating, changing the photo style, face retouch, red-eye fix and applying smart filters.

The new 20.3 megapixel sensor is larger than many DSLR sensors and when combined with the new DRIM eIV image processor is able to produce astonishing images and video. The auto focus system is a combination of contrast and phase focus systems, which makes it very accurate and amazingly fast. It can track objects and continually focus, even when it is shooting at over 8 frames per second!

Samsung have also launched a 3D lens for the NX300, which allows you to shoot 3D images and 3D video, even at full HD 1080, 60p. The tilting screen is very useful for low or high angle shots, and the AMOLED touchscreen holds contrast superbly.

Whilst this camera produces images that would beat many more expensive DSLR cameras, it also has the sort of connectability that would put many smart phones to shame. the NX300 will let you email your high resolution images straight out of the camera into social media platforms and even back up your pictures onto your home computer automatically. Working in the other direction, this connectivity allows you to completely control the camera with your smartphone.

And if that wasn’t enough, all this technology comes with plenty of easy to use modes and filters to help you take perfect pictures whatever the  conditions. All in all, I can’t think of another camera in this price range which offers so much to the photographer and videographer.

Compact system cameras are the exciting and groundbreaking cousins of the more traditional  DSLRs and the Samsung NX300, with its fantastic range of features and stunning image quality is the the best compact system camera available today.
